Medecine Head Necklace

This heap big colourful “Y” shaped necklace is a wonderful mega mix of Mexican beads and small nuggets of Turquoise, Amber, Bamboo and Lapis Lazuli interspersed with ornate Silver spacers.  Designed in the Studio on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, it has been created by artists inspired by both traditional Native American style and by materials that feature in Navajo legend.

And talking of Navajo legend, the Medicine Man is believed to have a spiritual connection with animals, supernatural creatures and all elements of nature. Spirits were believed to inhabit the rivers, lakes, mountains, trees, plants, sky, stars, sun, animals, insects, fish, flowers and birds.  The role of the Medicine Man, is particularly associated with warding off bad spirits.
