Gem Festival Necklace

From the earliest of times, the Navajo Indians delighted in wearing wild and wonderfully colourful necklaces of semi-precious gemstones which they also used for trade. The Gem Festival necklace echoes the past as it revels in the distinctive colours and qualities of a unique and utterly mesmerising mix of exquisite hand cut stones. Of particular note is the blue and green Boulder Turquoise, which dominates the necklace. This comes from an open-cut mine in north-east Nevada and is distinguished by narrow veins of turquoise through the mother rock. Other semi-precious gemstones used to maximum effect in this triple-link technicolour masterpiece are lapis lazuli, gaspeite, coral, malachite and adventurine. All finished to perfection at either end by glorious Sterling Silver beads etched with popular Native American Indian motifs. Created in the Design Studios on the reservation in New Mexico this spectacular Navajo necklace is as magical as it is individual.
